Try the following sleepy time, relaxing warm beverage before you go to bed. There are many variations of this Ayruvedic remedy. The star ingredient is Turmeric. We love the flexibility of this recipe. If you don’t have all the other spices on hand use what you have it will still be a delicious way to end your busy day and prepare for a restful night.
Serves 1
Ingredients:
1 Cup of coconut milk (unsweetened) or nut milk of choice, store-bought or homemade.
1 Tsp Coconut oil or butter (organic and or grass fed) optional for richness
½ teaspoon organic dried turmeric or 3-coin sized slices of organic fresh turmeric
¼ teaspoon ground ginger (or 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger)
Pinch of nutmeg
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of cardamom
Pinch of black pepper
1 or 2 teaspoons raw honey or maple syrup – sweetness is optional
Preparation:
Place all ingredients in a saucepan and gently whisk until coconut oil or butter is melted and milk is warm about 5 minutes. Serve in a special mug of your choice and snuggle up and enjoy.
If you are not a fan of golden milk traditional teas of chamomile, blue lotus or ashwagandha are also a nice nighttime option.
